Claire Manners Wood is an Australian contemporary artist based in London.

My contemporary art is an emotional extension of my self. It often represents my lived experiences and internal processing of joy and grief and is always directed by my responses to colour, pattern and texture.

My inspirations are multi-dimensional: many come from day-to-day life and the experiences of living through joy, grief and everything in between. But also, from my environments – not only my adopted home city of London, but my Australian upbringing and periods living and travelling around the world in Asia, Africa and America.

My sculptures combine architecture and tailoring with their own visual logic and individual responses to (the donated) fabrics.

My embroideries are a new, fun and modern version of an old artform which I am currently developing further.

My paintings reflect my (sometimes extreme) need to be surrounded by colour.

I am a member of Contemporary Textiles London: a group of artists, passionate about textiles with a contemporary twist.

I am also a member of the Visual Artists Association.
