Moving away from processing grief in some of my previous sculptures, when I came across some stunning Linton Tweed samples (each one about the size of an A4 sheet), I immediately imagined something light and airy - like the surreal runway described above.

The limitations of the fabric size created strong boundaries for me to work within. I created a sleeve, a skirt and other whimsical details for the ‘models’ to show off. Some of the beautiful tweed fabrics are so lightly woven that they almost disintegrated when being handled. What a joy to bring to life these ‘models’ who sway in a breeze!

A few viewers at an art fair said it reminded them of a beautiful underwater world because of the pearl buttons looking like ‘barnacles’. I loved that thought! And I was delighted when my lovely sister-in-law said it reminded her of Chanel as that was my aim!!
